NYSPP has an absolute charter from the Board of Regents of the State of New York to provide educational training, and offers a comprehensive three year training program leading to a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. A subsequent two year training program leads to a Certificate in Psychoanalysis - a course of study unique in its recognition that those who have a solid foundation in psychoanalytic psychotherapy have a strong background to become psychoanalysts.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

NYSPP, through its membership society, seeks to enrich the field of psychoanalytic psychotherapy through sponsorship of professional forums and workshops, liaison with colleagues, and publications by its members and faculty.

CLINICAL SERVICES TO THE COMMUNITY

The Society of NYSPP offers the Clinical Consultation and Referral Service for individuals and families in the greater New York metropolitan area including Long Island. This clinical service is coordinated with the NYSPP training program. Consultations, psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis are available for adults and adolescents. The referral service addresses a wide range of therapeutic challenges, such as anxiety, depression, difficulty in relationships, sexual dysfunction, life crisis, problems of self esteem, life disrupting symptoms associated with physical or sexual abuse and other traumas, as well as stress related issues stemming from work setbacks, the emotional problems of adult children of alcoholics, chronic feelings of emptiness, loneliness, and eating disorders. Fees are moderate and determined according to a sliding scale. The Clinical Consultation and Referral Service therapists see clients in their private offices throughout the five New York City boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester. Please phone the Clinical Consultation and Referral Service in New York City at 212-262-2381 and in Long Island at 516-623-0439 for information and referral.
