The Society of the New York School for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (Society of NYSPP) is the alumni and membership body of the New York School for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (NYSPP) and the Institute for the Study of Psychotherapy (ISP). It provides a continuous forum for our former students and a supportive environment for clinicians and professionals. The Society sponsors a major scientific conference every Spring featuring internationally acclaimed professionals, as well as workshops, films, and panel discussions. It also sponsors activities in New Jersey and Long Island. Gretrude Blanck, Salman Aktar, Martin Bergmann, Owen Renik and Leonard Shengold, Herbert Schlesinger were among some of the recent speakers at conferences arranged by the Society. NYSPP faculty and graduates speak at professional meetings and are frequently discussants at conferences. Meetings for "Members Only" encourage graduates of the institute to present papers and clinical cases.

The Society of NYSPP also maintains a Speakers Bureau available to schools, clinics, agencies, and religious and community groups. There are speakers available to cover a wide range of topics, such as infant research, child development, childhood trauma, trauma and it's application to psychotherapy, separation and individuation issues and attachment theory, aging, substance abuse, divorce, child custody, mental health issues in foster care and adoption,  short-term treatment, and deepening the psychotherapeutic relationship. If you are interested in other topics not listed above please phone the Speaker's Bureau with your request at 212-262-2381.

The Society welcomes into its membership similarly trained professionals whose philosophy is in accordance with NYSPP.

The Society sponsors a newsletter and publishes an annual Membership Directory which serves as a resource for referrals for NYSPP's Referral Service.
